KISS – Kid’s and Infant Safety System

What happens if you went to dinner and never returned – how would the police or your babysitter know who has the legal authority to care for your kids? There is a good chance that your kids could end up in Foster Care temporarily, even if you have chosen a guardian, unless you have made your wishes both legal and known.

KISS will help ensure that your children are not taken into protective custody in an emergency situation by helping you to fill in gaps in your kids’ guardianship. You will nominate temporary guardians for your children who can temporarily watch your kids until your permanent guardians are located. KISS also makes sure that someone other than you can make medical decisions for your child if you are incapacitated.

You can make your wishes known about where you want your children to go in the case of an emergency through KISS’s complete alert system:

  • Emergency card for your wallet
  • Card for your child’s car seat
  • Letters sent to your temporary guardians providing them with copies of the necessary legal documents to help them care for your kids until you or their permanent guardian can
